Artwork that I created in my 2D foundations class. The assignment was to recreate a portrait of one of our family members, but with a twist - we had to use text only. I decided to use my niece as the subject of my portrait and I chose to write her birth date, June 26th, 2019, in the form of the portrait itself.
The challenge was to use letters, numbers, and symbols to create a realistic portrait. I spent hours experimenting with different combinations of characters until I finally created a portrait that I was happy with. For the background, I wrote my niece's name, Honora, in a colorful and playful way, using a variety of fonts and sizes. I wanted the background to complement the portrait and add an extra touch of personality to the artwork.
Creating this portrait was a challenging yet rewarding experience, and it helped me develop my skills in using text to create depth and line weight, and variation. Overall, this project allowed me to showcase my creativity and imagination, while also paying homage to my beloved niece. It's a piece of art that will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope others will appreciate it too.
